Reporting a Safeguarding concern

The safeguarding and welfare of all children at Nidd United is our number one priority. You can read our Safeguarding Children Policy here.

If you have concerns about the welfare of a child within the club, or a child has given you information which concerns you, please contact the Club's Welfare Officer and designated Safeguarding Officer:

cwo@niddunited.co.uk

The Club Welfare Officer is your first point of contact for any questions or concerns you have about safeguarding. If however your concern is about the safeguarding officer, then your first point of contact should be the Westriding FA Safeguarding Team here.

Don't worry, it's NOT your responsibility to decide if a child is suffering from abuse, but it IS your responsibility to TELL someone if you have cause for concern.

Parent-Carers FAQs about Safeguarding

How do you recruit volunteers safely?

We follow the FA's Safer Recruitment Process which means all potential applicants for any role at the club must go through a 7 step process which includes a formal application, interview, reference checks and criminal record checks prior to being appointed. In addition, once they are appointed, many roles will require them to undergo safeguarding training too.

What can we do to help keep children safe?

There are a number of things you can do to help keep the club a safe place:

  1. The FA offer this free online Safeguarding course which we encourage all parents-carers to complete.
  2. Watch the video's on this dedicated page on the FA website.
  3. Know the right questions to ask by reading this short pdf help article here.
  4. Be familiar with our club rules here so you know what we expect from all members of the club and can spot something wrong early.
Can we take pictures of our players

Yes, as long as you read and comply with the FA Photographing Children Policy here.
